The Indian auto giant is preparing ICE and electric iterations of the upcoming Sierra SUV to attract a wide range of customers
In this post, we take a look at yet another spotting of the upcoming new Tata Sierra SUV. You might already be familiar with this moniker from over a decade ago. Tata Motors wants to capitalize on the legacy of this name. In recent times, we have seen it using this tactic with Safari. That turned out pretty well. Similarly, it wants to expand its electric portfolio with yet another premium offering. For now, let us take a look at the details of the spied model here.
New Tata Sierra Spotted
This post stems from autogram07 on Instagram. The visuals capture the heavily wrapped SUV on the side of a highway. Clearly, the SUV is being tested on public roads for a while now. Someone driving on the highway made a great video depicting the SUV. Firstly, we see the rear profile, which boasts a flat boot lid and a boxy silhouette. On the sides, there are elegant, large alloy wheels, prominent wheel arches, flush-fitting door handles and a rugged appearance. At the front, it embodies the modern design philosophy, which incorporates a connected LED strip, sleek LED headlamps and a sporty bumper.
This design style is now common on many new Tata cars. From the side, the SUV looks big and boxy, giving it a strong road presence. The large alloy wheels and bold wheel arches add to its tough appearance. This matches what was shown at the Auto Expo 2025. So, the final version may not look very different. That’s a good thing, as the concept model received a lot of attention from visitors and experts.
My View
Tata Motors has not confirmed details yet. But the electric version of the Tata Sierra will likely launch first, possibly by the end of this year. The petrol and diesel versions may come later. For now, there isn’t much information about the specs. Still, the Internal Combustion Engine model is expected to have a 1.5-litre turbo petrol and diesel engine. It should offer both manual and automatic gearbox options. More details will likely be revealed soon. Let’s wait and see how things shape up in the coming months.
