New Tata Tiago vs Hyundai Grand i10 Nios – Specs Comparison
Let us start this section with the new launch in the country, the Tata Tiago. It continues to draw power from two mills – a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol and the same engine in CNG guise. These are good for 86 PS / 113 Nm and 75.5 PS / 96.5 Nm of maximum power and torque, respectively. Performing transmission duties are either a 5-speed manual or an AMT automatic gearbox. These combinations ensure that there is a variant to satisfy the needs of all sorts of potential buyers.
On the other hand, the case with the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios is also the same. It comes with the tried and tested 1.2-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, which generates an almost similar 83 PS and 113.8 Nm of peak power and torque in petrol guise and 69 PS and 95.2 Nm, respectively, in the CNG version. The petrol iteration is available with either a 5-speed manual or an AMT automatic gearbox, while the CNG trims come mated to a sole 5-speed manual gearbox. Hence, the Tiago has a slight edge in this regard.
| Specs | Tata Tiago Petrol / CNG | Hyundai Grand i10 Nios Petrol / CNG |
| Engine | 1.2L Bi-fuel | 1.2-litre 4-Cyl Petrol |
| Power | 86 PS / 75.5 PS | 83 PS / 69 PS |

In my view, this comparison highlights how competitive the hatchback segment remains despite the growing popularity of SUVs. The new Tata Tiago impresses with its aggressive pricing, expanded feature list and multiple powertrain options, including CNG and EV variants. On the other hand, the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios continues to attract buyers with its refined engine, premium cabin experience and proven reliability. For budget-conscious Indian buyers, both hatchbacks offer strong value, but the final choice will depend on whether features or refinement top the priority list.
