Nissan has introduced a government-approved CNG retrofitment kit for the All-New Gravite, bringing a practical and cost-focused upgrade to its 7-seater offering. Priced at ₹82,999, the kit is available across 16 states and marks a segment-first with its twin-cylinder layout. The key highlight here is simple—offer the running cost benefits of CNG without compromising on space or usability. And that’s where Nissan seems to have taken a slightly different approach compared to typical CNG setups.
Nissan Gravite CNG Kit Setup & Configuration
The biggest talking point is the twin-cylinder configuration. Instead of a single large cylinder eating into boot space, Nissan has used two 25-litre cylinders, allowing the Gravite to retain its full 7-seater functionality. This means you don’t lose the third row—something that has always been a compromise in CNG-equipped vehicles. The system has been developed and quality assured by Motozen, and it comes with a 3-year or 1,00,000 km warranty on kit components. Installation is handled through authorised Nissan dealerships, ensuring a more seamless ownership experience.
From a technical standpoint, the setup includes:
- BS6.2-compliant sequential CNG kit
- ICAT-approved system for safety and reliability
- Heavy-duty cylinder construction (8.1 mm thickness)
- Dynamic Advancer Technology for better performance
- Seamless petrol-CNG switchover
There’s also thoughtful packaging here. The fuel filling point is placed under the fuel lid, and the installation has a clean, factory-finish integration, which avoids the usual “aftermarket” feel that many retrofit kits tend to have.

Practicality, Cost Advantage and Market Relevance
Where the Nissan Gravite CNG really makes its case is in everyday usability. For buyers who are constantly on the move, running costs become a major factor. The CNG option significantly reduces per-kilometre costs, making a 7-seater more viable for daily use. At the same time, Nissan has ensured that this doesn’t come at the cost of comfort or flexibility. The rear seat layout remains usable, and the modular nature of the cabin is retained.

There’s also a broader context here. With rising fuel prices and increasing focus on cleaner mobility, CNG continues to be a relevant option in many urban markets. The Gravite CNG taps into that demand while offering something slightly more practical than conventional setups. The retrofitment is availability across authorised dealerships in 60 cities in 16 states.

The Nissan Gravite CNG isn’t just about adding another fuel option. Instead, it’s about solving a very specific problem. Most CNG cars in this space force you to compromise on practicality, especially when it comes to seating. If you’re buying a 7-seater, chances are you actually need all seven seats. Traditional CNG setups don’t work well in that scenario. Nissan’s twin-cylinder approach fixes that problem in a very straightforward way. While not a radical change, it’s a rather sensible update for a vehicle on sale in a practicality-driven segment.
