Maruti Fronx Pros and Cons

In this post, we shall take a look at the pros and cons of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. Fronx is a slightly more SUV-ish iteration of the Baleno. In fact, it is based on the same Heartect platform as the Baleno. Apart from that, the reminiscence of the Baleno is evident throughout the exterior and interior. Still, it sits above the Baleno and below the Brezza in Maruti’s India lineup. For now, let us take a look at the strengths and weaknesses of the Fronx here.

Pros of Maruti Suzuki Fronx

Butch Design

The exterior of the Fronx is quite sporty and butch in comparison to the Baleno. In fact, it has a muscular front end which looks more modern, a sturdy skid plate underneath the front bumper, an upright bonnet, stylish alloy wheels, a crossover/SUV-ish demeanour, roof rails and a healthy rear section with a rugged skid plate and sporty bumper. All in all, the overall silhouette of the Fronx is certainly quite butch.

Multiple Powertrains

In order to cater to the needs of various buyers, the largest carmaker in the country has equipped the Fronx with multiple powertrain options. These include a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.0-litre turbo petrol and a 1.2-litre bi-fuel (CNG + Petrol) engine. This ensures that every potential buyer is able to opt for the kind of engine and transmission combination they desire. For the enthusiasts, the turbo petrol engine makes sense, while for those who want low running costs, the CNG is the one to pick.

New-Age Features and Spacious Cabin

In addition to multiple powertrains and great exterior styling, even the cabin comes with the latest tech and convenience features. We know that people love to experience new-age functions and amenities to pamper themselves these days. This is particularly true for the younger buyers. Hence, the Fronx offers things like a Head-up Display, a 360-degree Camera for the ease of manoeuvring in tight spaces, a 9-inch Infotainment Display with Connected Car Tech, Wireless Charging, Arkamys Sound System and more.

Comfortable Ride Quality and Cabin Space

Finally, the suspension setup has been tuned in such a way that the passengers get a comfortable ride quality despite our roads being quite challenging at times. That is what most car buyers want from their vehicles. Apart from that, even the legroom for the rear passengers is quite impressive.

Cons of Maruti Suzuki Fronx

Turbo Petrol Engine Only in Higher Trims

Now, we know that driving enthusiasts want turbo petrol engines for their cars. This trend has recently picked up in India. However, in the case of Fronx, the turbo petrol mill is only available in higher variants. Hence, if anyone wants to opt for the driver’s choice of engine, they will need to shell out a considerable premium since it is only offered with higher trims.

Tiny Boot

Now while the cabin space of the Maruti Fronx is great, it doesn’t translate to the boot compartment. The Fronx comes with a rather tiny boot with a capacity of only 308 litres. This is the smallest in the segment. That could put off a lot of buyers because family persons will generally opt for the Fronx. But if there is not enough space in the boot to carry their luggage on long journeys, that is not an ideal situation. To compromise on such a practical issue might be too big of an ask.

Lacks Some Popular Features

Finally, the Maruti Fronx might be well-kitted for the most part. But there are a few popular features that it misses out on. These include everyone’s favourite, a Sunroof, a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Auto Wipers, etc. You would expect these amenities to be there in a car of this segment and price point. Hence, it is a shame that the buyers won’t be able to get these functions. These are the most prominent pros and cons of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx.

Author’s Note

We must mention here that no car can be perfect. There are things that one car offers better than others and then there are aspects which one car misses out on in comparison to the competitors. Therefore, it is advisable to test drive a new car and take in the real-life experience of how the car makes you feel when you look at it, sit inside it and drive it. Then you must ensure that it contains most of the features on your radar. Finally, you will consider the budget for the variant you like the most. Don’t forget to take into consideration the mileage and running costs. After considering these factors, you can make up your mind about a particular car. We hope that this example of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx serves as a great example to inform you how you should weigh the pros and cons of any car.
