The trend of electric microcars for urban usage is on the rise in recent times, and the French auto giant is working in this direction too

In this post, we take a look at the details of the Renault Kwid E-Tech. The electric iteration of the urban car is already on sale in some international markets. In India, we have the likes of the MG Comet and Tata Tiago EV, which serve the same purpose. They carry small batteries, enough for daily trips, while keeping the price tag reasonable. That is the major attraction of such cars. In a similar vein, Renault wants to explore this segment with the electric Kwid. Here is what we can expect.

This post stems from placaverde on Instagram. The visuals capture a photograph of the Renault Kwid E-Tech plying on a public road. As per the information in the post, the EV is located somewhere in Curitiba, Brazil. Note that the EV is already on sale there. Hence, we see a fully uncamouflaged version of the electric Kwid. Majorly, the video clip highlights the rear and the side sections. At the rear, it gets compact taillamps, a roof-mounted spoiler, a rugged bumper, a high-mount stop lamp and a traditional antenna.

Moving to the sides, the slightly muscular demeanour has prominent wheel arches, stylish alloy wheels, black side pillars, and some plastic cladding on the door panels. In Brazil, it gets a 26.8 kWh battery pack, which is good for 65 PS of maximum power. As per the Brazilian standards, the EV boasts a range of 298 km on a single charge. The charging time to get to 80% is a decent 40 minutes. It gets to 50 km/h from a standstill in just 4.1 seconds. Furthermore, it comes with tons of modern-day equipment, including things like a 7-inch digital infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Amenities like 6 airbags, ESP, Hill Start Assist and Sound Alert round off the package.

My View

The French car marque is slowly planning to expand its footprint in our country. Its Kwid, Kiger and Triber are already quite popular. In fact, it even exports these cars to many countries around the globe. Perhaps it wants to achieve something similar with the electric Kwid. Therefore, we can expect the launch of the Kwid E-Tech in the coming months in our market. Buyers will then have the option of choosing between the likes of the MG Comet, Tata Tiago EV and Renault Kwid EV. Let us keep an eye out for more details.
