Renault Kwid Facelift With BS6 Spotted – Launch likely by late 2019

The new Renault Kwid will get minor updates on the exteriors, interiors and will carry a BS6 compliance engine.

Renault Kwid is the only car to bring up most sales for the manufacturer and citing to this, a facelift will soon be launched. Introduced back in 2015, the entry-level hatchback competes with the likes of Maruti Alto, Tata Tiago, Maruti WagonR, Datsun GO and Hyundai Santro.

The video below showcases the front, the rear and side profile of the car and also this facelift is expected to come with a BS-VI compliance engine. Renault Kwid facelift design is inspired by the City KZ-E which is an electric car. The same was unveiled at the Shanghai Motor Show 2019.

The split headlight design with LED DRLs positioned near the grille and the main headlight below the bumper. The hatchback gets three-slated grille which makes it look modern along with new bumpers. The test mule spied sported new taillights, black ORVM’s and steel wheels.

There has not been any word on the interiors of the Kwid but with the facelift we expect it to get an updated infotainment system. Similarly, a new digital instrument console and new upholstery design inspired by the K-ZE.

Talking about the safety features, Renault Kwid facelift will come with a Driver-side airbag, Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Brake Distribution, Reverse Parking Sensors, Seat Belt Reminders, High-Speed Alert System will come as standard across all variants.

Under the hood, the power figures will remain the same except the engines will be now BS6 compliant. The on-going Kwid makes 54 bhp with 72 Nm of peak torque from a 0.8-litre petrol motor. The bigger 1.0L engine produces 67 bhp with 91 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed MT and an AMT. It is quite early to say as of now if both the engines will be BS6 compliance or not.

As said above, Renault Kwid was launched back in 2015 and since then it has received minor updates and special variants along the way. The hatchback has completed its 3 lakh sales mark in the Indian market. The Kwid’s high localisation in the manufacturing process, as much as 98%, to keep costs low and sales high, according to Renault.

The Renault Kwid facelift will not see a much revision to the pricing as only it gets minor changes to the styling part on the exteriors and the interiors and a BS6 compliance engine. The current Kwid starts at Rs 2.88 lakh for the base trim and the top-spec 1.0-litre AMT sets you back at Rs 4.86 lakh. All prices mentioned are ex-showroom, Delhi.
