The Renault KWID Facelift will get minor cosmetic updates on it exterior profile. No major changes are expected inside the cabin. It will continue to come with the same engine specifications. However, these engines will meet the new BS VI emission standard.

The Renault KWID has so far enjoyed quite a successful run in India. It offered the entry level customer something different, something stylish and better equipped than what the competition had to offer. Majority of the buyers of the Renault KWID were in the urban environment. However, as the current iteration of the product reaches its maturity stage, the sales have started to show the strain of time. renault has obviously realised this and hence has started working on a mid-life facelift for this entry-level hatchback. We say that because recently, Curtsey Motor1, a few spy shots of what seems to be like the Renault KWID facelift surfaced on the internet.

The test vehicle seen in the images was snapped somewhere in Europe. And it is clearly visible that the changes to the overall aesthetics will remain minimal. The test mule has its front and rear bumper covered in camouflaging material. This indicates that the Renault KWID facelift is going to have revised bumper design. Other than this, the rest of the design specifics seem to remain the same as the current model. The hatch will continue to come with its crossover-ish design.

We do not have any information regarding the interiors of the KWID facelift so far. But we can safely speculate that the cabin of this car will remain pretty much the same. It will continue to come with the same all-black colour scheme. In terms of features, there is not really much scope for improvement. However, Renault can improve the material quality a little bit.

In all likeliness, it would be fair to say that the facelift of the KWID hatchback will launch in India sometime around next year. And, hence, it should ideally meet the stringent safety norms coming into effect around the same time. Consequently, we expect it to come with dual airbags, ABD with EBD and ISOFIX child seat mounts along with parking sensors as standard across the range.

Since the facelift is launching in 2019, and BS VI emission norms come into effect in April 2020, expect the KWID to come with new BS VI engines. That said, these engines will continue to maintain the current engine capacities, which is the 0.8-litre and the 1.0-litre SCe units. In addition to this, the transmission options will remain the same as before. A 5-speed manual unit and a 6-speed AMT unit.

Since the Renault KWID facelift is going to come with additional safety features, and it is also going to get higher emission standard engines, expect the prices to go up slightly. For reference, currently, the base 0.8-litre variant of the KWID retails at around INR 2.67. While the top-end 1.0-litre AMT variant retails at INR 4.35 lakh (ex-showroom).
