The army bike Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus Edition has been launched. Only 250 units will be available in India. The bike will be available through online booking which is scheduled for July. The bike is inspired from the Flying Flea, a bike used by British Paratroopers during World War II.
One look at this army man and you would drool over it. Royal Enfield has launched the Classic 500 Pegasus, inspired by the bikes used by British Paratroopers in World War II. Only 1000 units will be available globally, out of which 250 bikes will come to India. The bike was known as Flying Flea because they were airdropped on the battlefield for the paratroopers. It was a 2-stroke bike, which was so light that the soldiers used to carry it on their shoulders when they could not ride. It was sent by parachutes or gliders with a protective cradle on the bike. In 1943, the orders for this bike was placed and it became a very popular amongst the British soldiers. Globally, the Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus edition is priced at GBP 4,999, approximately Rs 4.5 Lakhs and is expected to cost around Rs 2 Lakhs in India.

On the body, there will be a ‘Pegasus’ Logo with a unique serial number, reminding of the 250th Airborne Light Company in the World War II. The bike comes with military-style canvas panniers bearing the logo. Each motorcycle will also have brown handlebar grips, a leather strap with brass buckles across the air box, blacked out silencers, rims, pedals and the headlight bezel. ย In addition, consumers can also buy a range of Genuine Motorcycle Accessories that are compatible with the motorcycle. An array of Gear, inspired by this decorated motorcycling legacy, is also going to be available. Ranging from shirts, t-shirts, caps, lapel pins, bags and helmets, the limited-production apparels & accessories of this collection also come with the official military insignia & the Pegasus emblem. Globally, it will come in two colours –ย Service Brown and Olive Drab Green. However, India will get the Service brown colour only.

Most of the specs are same to the Classic 500. It weighs around 194 Kgs and delivers a mileage of 37 KMPL. The Classic 500 is available in India at a price of Rs 1.85 Lakhs (ex-showroom). It comes with dual discs, low fuel light and engine check light. Despite its typical cruiser looks and old-school technology, it is one of the most preferred cruisers in India.
