That is the reason why after a few months of the Indian launch, these products are launched there. The South African XUV700 comes in three trims – AX5, AX7 and AX7L and just with a petrol powertrain. South African Mahindra XUV700 vs Indian XUV700 – Specs Comparison

The Indian Mahindra XUV700 comes with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit that churns out a maximum power of 200 PS and a peak torque of 380 Nm. Meanwhile, the Diesel engine is available in multiple states of tune. The lower versions get 155 PS and 360 Nm, while the higher-positioned models benefit from 185 PS and 420 Nm (450 Nm in the automatic variant). Both the petrol and diesel engine variants will be available with 6-speed manual and automatic transmission choices. The SA model has just the 2.0-litre petrol trim with similar output and just automatic transmission.

Price Comparison

In terms of prices, the SA version range between R474,999 to R559,999 which roughly translates to Rs 22.88 lakh to Rs 26.98 lakh. On the other hand, the AX5 petrol automatic variant in India costs Rs 18.53 lakh while the AX7L petrol automatic costs Rs 23.09 lakh, ex-showroom. The AX5 is a 5-seat version, while the AX7 and AX7L are 7-seat versions for the South African model. It becomes clear that the Mahindra XUV700 in South Africa is substantially more expensive which is natural since these are exported from India.
