Suzuki Motorcycles India Limited (SMIL) has just launched the Inazuma in India at a staggering price of Rs 3.1 lakhs but it soon plans on bringing a new scooter for the mass market which will break cover at the Auto Expo 2014 in February. The company also plans on showcasing a new motorcycle alongside the scooter. The automatic scooter which Suzuki will be showcasing will be an all new scooter and will be a 110cc offering which will lock horns with the likes of Activa, Aviator, Ray and Wego to name a few.

The 110cc automatic scooter segment in India is getting crowded pretty fast and the Suzuki offering will have to offer something new so as to separate it from the rest. The scooter will be powered by a single cylinder 4-stroke motor that will displace 110cc. It will have a power output in the range of 7-9 BHP with the torque figure getting rated round 8 NM.The scooter will joins the likes of ย Access and Swish in the company’s portfolio which currently has just 125cc automatic scooters on offer.

Industry reports suggest that the Japanese manufacturer has been developing the scooter for a while now and the same is all set to hit mass production. It is the 110cc segment that brings the majority of the volumes and Suzuki will be looking to take a share of that pie. On the other hand, Honda is looking to venture into the 125cc segment which till now has been Suzuki’s forte and will be showcasing a 125cc scooter at the Auto Expo 2014.

Joining the scooter will be a 110cc commuter bike as well which is expected to cater to the masses. The bike in all likelihood will be facelifted Hayate which will get a cosmetic upgrade and to go with it, will see a mechanical update too. Suzuki has not been able to make a mark for itself in the two wheeler segment in India despite having some really capable products like the Hayate and Access in its lineup. Maybe the Hayate facelift and the new 110cc scooter will be the ones helping the company turning around fortunes to some extent.
