Tata Altroz-based 7-seater MPV

After suffering from poor demand for the likes of Indica Vista and Bolt, Tata Motors could finally achieve reasonable success with the Altroz. This premium hatchback swiftly climbed the ranks, winning hearts and becoming one of Tata’s top-selling premium hatchback. Facing fierce competition from Maruti Baleno and Hyundai i20, the Altroz comes across as a formidable contender in its segment. With the success of the Altroz, Tata Motors will now come with the Racer Edition. Essentially a hot hatch version, the upcoming variant highlights the versatility of the platform. Interestingly, a digital rendering by Binny Zacharia even gives us a sneak peek into the Tata Altroz-based 7-seater MPV.

Featuring a signature Tata grille and sleek, sweptback taillights, the rendering exudes a sporty charm. Noteworthy additions include an extended rear overhang and a larger rear door, enhancing accessibility for passengers. The overall length of the vehicle has been extended to accommodate an additional row of seats. This makes it a potential 7-seater MPV.

Zooming in, the rendering reveals a set of blacked-out rims with striking red brake callipers, adding a touch of sportiness to the overall look. The MPV sits lower than its hatchback counterpart, creating a dynamic and appealing visual. Binny Zacharia’s creative touch brings forth a captivating blend of elegance and sporty flair.

Specifications

The Tata Altroz is available with three distinct engine options. These include a 1.2-litre NA petrol engine, a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel mill. The NA petrol engine produces 86bhp of power and 113 Nm of torque, while the turbocharged diesel engine boasts 89bhp and 200 Nm. The 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine churns out 108bhp and 140 Nm of twisting force. All engines are paired with a reliable 5-speed MT, and a DCT gearbox is on the horizon for the Altroz.

Even as the Altroz-based MPV might never see the light of the day, Tata Motors has a range of new vehicles that will launch in the months to come. The highlight of these is the production-spec CURVV that will rival the Hyundai Creta. Meanwhile, as we catch a glimpse of the Tata Altroz-based 7-seater MPV through Binny Zacharia’s rendering, the anticipation for Tata’s future lineup reaches new heights. Stay tuned for the latest news on the upcoming Tata cars in India in 2024.
