In a crash that took place in Bhubaneswar, a Tata Altroz got bent in the middle after hitting a divider.

With an NCAP safety rating of 5-star, the Tata Altroz is currently the safest car in the hotly-contested B2-hatchback segment of the Indian car market

For many years now, the Tata Altroz has been heralded as one of the safest cars reasonable money can buy. Even if one ignores the full 5-star NCAP safety rating for a moment, there have been several incidents that validate the small car’s claim of being the safest hatchback in the segment. In fact, even we have been regular with reporting accidents in which this Maruti Baleno and Hyundai i20-rival has kept its occupants scratchless. Today, though, things are a bit different. The latest accident of the most sophisticated small car from Tata yet recently took place in Bhubhnashwar. And what’s shocking here is that the car has bent in the middle from the impact with the divider.

The latest accident involving the hatchback took place in Bhubaneshwar. It’s said that the car was traveling at a pretty high speed when it got out of control and hit the divider. The impact was severe enough to leave the car in a pretty bad shape. The contact happened on the left side of the car and was huge enough to totally bend the B-pillar. Both the doors and the B-pillar have been damaged severely. Even the roof has got deformed and the front axle has broken. The impact was such that even the other side of the car has sustained some damage. It’s certainly not common to see the Altroz sustain such high damage in an accident but what’s even rarer is that this time around, it has failed to keep its occupants scratchless.

As per the video, both the occupants have sustained some injuries. While the exact details of the injuries isn’t available one can see blood stains on the airbag, seats, and even the door. Luckily, there was no loss of life. However, we are really shocked to see a Tata Altroz not being able to prevent injury to the occupants. Of course, there’s no question of the car not being safe enough. In such cases, it’s not possible to figure out the speed and angle of the impact. Also, the ‘L’ decals on the windscreens could be an indication of the driver being fairly new behind the wheel. Now, this is something that surely amplifies the risk of a mishap.

But this incident surely serves as a good reminder of how bad things can get if one’s not careful enough. We urge all our readers to practice safe driving in all instances. One must also not drive beyond the permissible limits. Finally, it’s important to realize your driving capabilities and not push your luck.
