Tata H2X Micro-SUV concept is likely to be transformed into a production vehicle under 4-meters in length rivalling against the Ignis and KUV1OO.

At the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, Tata Motors, in addition to showcasing the Altroz premium hatchback, Altroz EV and the Buzzard seven-seater, also premiered the H2X compact SUV concept. The H2X concept gives us a hint about what the homegrown automaker’s upcoming Micro-SUV, set to compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ignis and the Mahindra KUV1OO is going to look like.

It is expected that the H2X concept, or the Hornbill (codename), will make its production-spec debut at the 2020 Auto Expo in Delhi. The automaker has confirmed that it is going to be based on its Alpha architecture, the same which underpins the Altroz and the Altroz EV.

Considering the fact that recent Tata cars have been quite close to their respective concept iterations, the H2X is something we should all look forward to. With its compact yet stylish exteriors, it sure has the required flair to attract young buyers.

Expect the production-spec Tata H2X to come with a decent amount of features onboard. LED daytime running lights, projector headlamps, a touchscreen infotainment system, steering mounted audio controls, a HARMAN tuned sound system are some of the creatures comforts that one can expect.

In terms of its engine line-up, it is likely that the Tata H2X concept is only going to get a petrol derivative. The engine could either be the 1.2-litre unit borrowed from the Tiago or its turbocharged derivative borrowed from the Nexon. Transmission options are likely to include manual as well as automatic options.

When launched in India in its production iteration, the H2X or the Hornbill is going to compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ignis and the Mahindra KUV1OO. As a result of this, we expect the same to fall in-between the price range of INR 5.5 lakh to INR 8.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
