Tata Motors is readying up its own Micro-SUV to compete against the KUV 100. The Tata Hornbill is most likely to launch in India by 2020. Not just Tata, but Maruti Suzuki and Datsun are also planning their Micro SUVs for India.
Tata Nexon is going very well in its compact SUV segment. Its other small car, Tiago is also performing well in its segment. Now, as per the recent reports, we get to know that Tata Hornbill Micro-SUV is under works. Basically, it will be an even smaller Nexon. As per the recent media reports, Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki and Datsun are gearing up with launches in the Micro-SUV department. Currently, there stands only one – KUV 100. The Hornbill will be placed above the Tiago but will sit below the upcoming Tata 45X hatchback. Moreover, we expect it to line in with KUV 100’s price range, from Rs 5 Lakhs up to Rs 7.5 Lakhs.
Tata Hornbill – Launch Date
As per the latest reports, the Hornbill will launch in 2021 in India. Before that, the Tata 45X premium hatchback will launch in India.

Tata Hornbill – Competition
Coming to the competition, it will go against the KUV 100. Currently, the only Micro SUV in India is the KUV. With Hornbill, Micro SUVs from Hyundai, Maruti Suzuki, and Datsun are also going to launch. So once these are launched and the segment is filled with some cars, there would be good competition. Micro SUVs usually would have competition from hatchbacks because of the same price range. Mainly, people who want to have an SUV type feeling while driving but want a small car for the traffic would opt for this segment.
