Tata Motors Group Global wholesales numbers are also reflecting a similar state of affairs as it is in the domestic car market. They recorded a decline of 23%.
Tata Motors Group have released their monthly global wholesales numbers for the entire Tata Motors Group for the month of May 2019. This includes cumulative numbers from both the commercial vehicle segment as well as the passenger vehicle segment, including Jaguar Land Rover.
Last month, Tata Motors saw a total decline of 23%, with cumulative wholesales of 82,374 units of vehicles as compared to May 2018, during which the Tata Motors Group sold around 106,979 units of vehicles. Tata Motor’s global wholesales in the passenger vehicles segment accounted for 50,884 units of vehicles in May 2019, lower by 23%, against May 2018, during which time Tata Motors Group sold a total of around 66,083 passenger vehicles globally.
Out of this, the standalone global wholesales of the company’s luxury car brand, Jaguar Land Rover, stood at 39,895 units of vehicles. Jaguar wholesales for the month were 13,075 vehicles, while Land Rover wholesales for the month were 26,820 vehicles. This also includes the 4,219 units sold by CJLR, a JV between JLR and Chery Automobiles.
As for the commercial vehicle segment, Tata Motor’s global wholesales of commercial vehicles and Tata Daewoo range for May 2019 stood at 31,490 units of vehicles, compared to the 40,896 units for May 2018, thus recording a decline of 23%. As for the Indian market, Tata Motors reported a 26% drop in overall sales for the month of May, 2019. The Indian car manufacturer reported sales limited to just 40,155 units as opposed to 54,290 units last May for passenger and commercial vehicle.
The domestic passenger vehicles saw a drop of 38% with domestic wholesale being limited to 10,900 units as opposed by 17,489 units last May, 2018. The challenging UV (utility vehicle) market saw a growth of 13% while the cumulative sales growth for passenger vehicles for April-May 2019 stood at 23,594 units recording 38% of de-growth as compared to 34,724 units for the same period, last financial year.
