We know that all of you have been wondering if the Toyota Glanza drives any differently from the Baleno, so here’s a video review to answer your questions.

Toyota recently launched the Glanza which is their first product in the premium hatchback segment. Well, the Glanza is essentially a rebadged Baleno that would be sold through Toyota dealerships. The Glanza just sports a new grille design and Toyota badges to differentiate it from the Baleno. However, does the Glanza drive any differently than the Baleno? To answer your question, here’s a video review of the Toyota Glanza from a Toyota dealership.

Toyota Glanza Video Review from Toyota Dealership

Arun Panwar, owner of a Maruti Suzuki Baleno, takes a test model of the Glanza from a Toyota dealership out for a drive. He records a video of the same in his phone camera, expressing his opinion about the new Glanza. The Glanza uses the same petrol engines from the Baleno. Recently, both the petrol engines in the Baleno were updated to be BS-VI compliant and likewise, both engines in the Glanza are BS-VI compliant as well.

The Glanza gets the 1.2-Litre Petrol Engine with Advanced Li-Ion Battery with ISG (mild-hybrid) and generates 90 bhp of power and healthy torque of 113 Nm. The other is the 1.2L, K12B petrol engine which will pump out 83 bhp and 113 Nm. The car featured in the video is powered by the latter non-hybrid engine. The highlight of this video has been the refinement of the new BS-VI engine.

Reportedly, the Glanza was with full load with four people inside and the AC running, but the car still had enough grunt and was pulling with all its might. The car was also tested for its acceleration and it fared quite well, hitting 80 kph in about 10 seconds. It also sounds quite refined, even when revved hard. However, the Baleno also comes with the same BS-VI engines and while it is being reported that its certainly more refined than the BS-IV Baleno, the Glanza with this BS-VI engine is not necessarily different from the Baleno with the same BS-VI engine.

However, what is Toyota is banking on, and what can also be heard repeatedly from the dealer salesman, is the warranty on offer and the service experience that Toyota will offer to its customers. The Glanza offers 3 years/1 lakh km standard warranty, which can be extended to 5 years or 2.2 lakh km warranty. Maruti Suzuki, on the other hand, offers 2 year/40,000 km warranty that can be extended to a maximum of 4 years or 1 lakh km. Apart from that, Toyota also offers services like roadside assistance, 60-minute service and more such features.

What’s also in Toyota’s favor is the pricing. Toyota has priced the Glanza with the mild-hybrid engine around Rs. 70,000 cheaper than the Baleno counterpart. In fact, the Glanza is cheaper in almost all its configurations than the equivalent Baleno. However, the Toyota Glanza still does not feel any different than the Baleno in terms driving and even in terms of build quality or fit and finish as is evident in the video review.

The Toyota Glanza is the first of many such rebadged products that will be launched in the Indian market in the coming times. In the future, we will get to see rebadged products like Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and even the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz in India.
