Mahindra Scorpio N Pickup Spied Testing

Mahindra is not new to this space, as it used to sell the Getaway in our market a few years ago

The Mahindra Scorpio N pickup was recently spotted testing on the busy Indian roads. It will be developed from the standard Scorpio N, which will ensure a premium feel. It is worth noting that Mahindra once sold the Getaway pickup truck in India. That model was aimed more at utility needs. In contrast, the new Scorpio N-based pickup is designed for buyers who want a lifestyle-oriented truck. That is where the foundation of the new Scorpio N comes into the picture. For now, let us go through the available details.

Mahindra Scorpio N Pickup Spied Testing

The specifics of this case stem from gouravpandit142 on Instagram. The visuals capture the heavily camouflaged pickup truck plying amidst heavy traffic. In fact, that is when someone driving in the adjacent lane made the video. Interestingly, the front section contains pop-out headlamps, which indicates a temporary arrangement. Apart from that, the front section teases similar elements like the Scorpio N in terms of grille. Also, the side profile captures steel wheels and prominent wheel arches. In fact, steel wheels mean that this could be the base trim.

In the latter part of the video, we also see the tail section. It gets a spacious cargo compartment with relatively simple taillamps. Look closely and you will also see the side steps for easier ingress and egress for the passengers. I was particularly intrigued by the rugged component on the rear bumper, which makes it look even sturdier. Overall, the demeanour and road presence of this pickup will surely try to match that of the Toyota Hilux, which, unfortunately, hasn’t been doing all that well on the sales charts.

Specs

While Mahindra has not shared official details about the pickup, it is expected to use the same powertrain and gearbox options as the Scorpio N. This means a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder mStallion turbo petrol producing 200 PS and 380 Nm, or a 2.2-litre 4-cylinder mHawk turbo diesel. The diesel will come in two versions – 132 PS / 300 Nm and 175 PS / 400 Nm. Both engines will be offered with manual and automatic transmissions. In higher variants, a proper 4×4 system will also be available. More information will be revealed at the launch.
