In order to boost accessibility, the Toyota Innova Crysta GX+ trim has been launched in our market. This will fill the void between GX and VX trims on sale at the moment. There are some key features on this variant which will entice new buyers. Innova Crysta is an iconic name in the Indian automobile industry. It has been the most successful MPV in the country by a mile. In fact, at the moment, the Japanese carmaker even sells the Innova Hycross, an SUV based on the regular Innova Crysta just to leverage its success. For now, let us take a look at the details of this new variant.
Toyota Innova Crysta GX+ Variant Price and Features
The new trim is being offered at a starting price of Rs 21.39 lakh, ex-showroom. This is a full Rs 1.39 lakh more expensive than the base GX model and Rs 3.25 lakh less expensive than the VX model. Hence, one could consider it a slightly more feature-equipped-based model. Interestingly, the GX+ comes with 14 additional features in comparison to the GX trim. Some of the most proominent of these include:
- Auto-Folding ORVMs
- Rear Camera
- Diamond-Cut Alloy Wheels
- Wooden Panels
- Dash Cam
- Premium Fabric Seats
- Option of 7 and 8 Seats
In essence, these are some useful amenities which the buyers will relish. Having a rear view camera in a large MPV like the Innova Crysta is not just a boon, but a necessity. The wooden panels will enhance the cabin feel while the dash cam is a critical component for safety purposes. Being an Innova, the flexibility of choosing between a 7- and 8-seat layout is appreciated.
Specs
While the Innova Crysta has had multiple powertrain options in the past, it currently draws power from a single 2.4-litre turbo diesel mill. It produces a decent 150 hp and 343 Nm of peak power and torque. Complimenting this mill is a 5-speed manual gearbox. Depending on the current demand, this is the sole configuration for the Innova Crysta for the time being.

Our View
Now, having multiple variants only enhances the accessibility of any vehicle. However, the Innova Crysta is already the best-seller in its segment. Still, I feel it is a great idea to offer slightly more access to potential customers in terms of pricing and variants. We shall have to wait and watch how this impacts the monthly sales of the prominent MPV henceforth.
