Toyota’s derivative of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno to launch in India by mid-May

Toyota’s rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno is going to get major cosmetic alterations while its engine specs are expected to remain the same.

Toyota is soon going to introduce an all-new premium hatchback in the Indian markert. This hatchback will be a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. The Two Japanese automakers, Toyota and Suzuki are under a partnership in which they are going to share products. In addition to Maruti Suzuki sharing the Baleno with Toyota, it is also going to do the same with its Vitara Brezza sub-4-meter compact SUV. On the other hand, Toyota will share its Corolla Altis with the former.

There were a number of media reports stating that the Toyota’s derivative of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno is going to launch in India sometime during the year 2019. Now, according to a recent report published in Economic Times, The Toyota’s iteration of the Baleno will make its official debut in India sometime during the month of May this year.

Toyota’s derivative of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno is going to get major cosmetic alterations in order to differentiate it from its donor vehicle. Expect the hatchback to come with new headlamps design along with a completely new design for the front as well as the rear bumpers. In addition to this, this car is likely to get a new set of allow wheels as well.

The interiors of the Toyota’s derivative of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno are expected to remain the same as before. This will help Toyota keep the input costs down, the primary objective for vehicle sharing between the two companies.

It is likely that the same reason will become the cause of Toyota keeping the engine line-up of its Baleno derivative the same as before. There is a possibility that Toyota may only launch the Baleno with a petrol engine in the line-up. That way, the hatchback is going to come with a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder engine which is capable of churning out 82 BHP along with 114 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options are likely to include a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic.
