In the update for BS-6 norms, Piaggio will update the Vespa scooters with fuel injection technology and a couple of more features like LED headlamps.

Automotive manufacturers are rolling their sleeves up in preparation of BS-6 models. The stringent emission norms are scheduled to kick in from April 2020, much to the chagrin of manufacturers.

Autocar reports that Piaggio will update its entire lineup of Vespa and Aprilia scooters to BS-6 norms. Reportedly, the Vespa scooters will get fuel injection system. Most of the scooters will get the same technology, to make them BS-6 compliant.

Further, the updated Vespa scooters will get new features such as LED headlamps. Both the updates will be available on the entire lineup. So, expect the most affordable Vespa to also get LED headlamps.

Reports suggest that Piaggio will start the production of all Vespa and Aprilia BS-6 scooters by early 2020. The first BS-6 product from the manufacturer could be launched as early as in October this year.

Some cosmetic upgrades will also be seen, such as new decals and colour options. Of course, the retro look will still continue, as it is the USP of Vespa scooters. Aprilia is known for its racy looking scooters.

With this, the prices of scooters will increase. HMSI has confirmed that the Activa 125 BS-6 will be around 10-15% more expensive than its BS-4 version. This can be the same as with other scooters as well.

Aprilia will get a new family scooter under its name and a new maxi scooter, reportedly. A similar high capacity scooter might also be launched under the Vespa name.
