VinFast Commences Local Hiring in India
VinFast India is working closely with the Tamil Nadu government to train young diploma holders for careers in the automotive industry. This effort is part of the Naan Mudhalvan programme, a major skill development initiative by the state. The goal is to prepare local youth with practical skills that match the needs of the fast-changing automotive sector. Once selected, candidates go through structured training led by both Vietnamese experts and experienced Indian professionals. The training follows global automotive standards to ensure high-quality outcomes.
The recruitment drive began in April, with 344 diploma students participating from across the region. After a two-month training programme led by the District Administration, students were assessed and interviewed for selection. The initiative saw strong coordination between the District Collector’s Office, local polytechnic colleges, and VinFast India’s leadership team. Guidance Tamil Nadu’s WorkLabs Cell plays an important role in this process. It connects educational institutions with industry needs, creating a smooth path from classrooms to jobs in the automotive sector.
This ensures a steady supply of skilled workers who are ready for the demands of modern manufacturing. VinFast has adopted a hybrid workforce model. About 80% of its plant workforce will be made up of trained freshers from local communities. The remaining 20% will consist of experienced professionals from India and abroad. This collaboration highlights a new approach to building talent in Tamil Nadu – one that blends government support, industry expertise, and academic involvement to prepare youth for the global job market.
