The Vietnamese carmaker is prepping to launch its electric SUVs in the Indian market in the coming days
In this post, we take a look at the comparison between the VinFast VF3 and MG Comet EV in terms of specs and features. VinFast is a Vietnamese car marque with presence in many countries, including the U.S. and Southeast Asia. It has established its manufacturing plant at SIPCOT Industrial Park in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. This facility has a capacity of producing 50,000 units annually, which is expandable to 150,000 units. In August this year, the VF7 became the first production vehicle out of this plant. For now, let us compare the two compact EVs.
VinFast VF3 vs MG Comet EV – Specs Comparison
The VinFast VF3, in the international market, comes with an 18.64 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which is good for a range of 210 km on a single charge as per the generous NEDC cycle. This results in a healthy 43 hp and 110 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h just takes 5.3 seconds. Using a fast charger, the battery can be juiced up from 10% to 70% in just 36 minutes. It will be interesting to see if these numbers hold true for the Indian-spec model too.
On the other hand, the MG Comet EV bears an IP67-rated 17.3 kWh lithium-ion battery. It powers the electric motor to produce a decent 41 hp and 110 Nm of maximum power and torque, respectively. MG claims a range of 230 km on a single charge, which is great for a city car. With an AC charger, the battery can be charged in just 7 hours. The users also get to choose between three drive modes – Eco, Normal and Sports. Clearly, the specs are quite similar for both of these EVs.
