VW Taigun Facelift Spied Testing

The mid-size SUV has been quite a hit among car buyers in our market ever since its launch back in 2021

The VW Taigun facelift was spotted performing test runs on the Indian roads. It has given the German car marque immense sales in the last couple of years. In fact, the Virtus and Taigun have transformed the image and business of Volkswagen in our market under the India 2.0 initiative. The mid-size SUV category is among the most popular. In the last few years, almost every major auto giant has launched a model in this space. Hence, carmakers need to be in their best shape to compete in this category. The Taigun facelift will do that for VW.

This post stems from autonation_india on Instagram. The visuals capture a neatly camouflaged SUV on the road amidst heavy traffic. In the initial part of the video, we witness the front fascia of the SUV. Even though too many details are not available, the sleek LED headlamp cluster, along with a narrow grille, can be seen. Down below, we also come across a sporty bumper, while the side section contains styling new alloy wheels. A brief glimpse of the side profile showcases almost identical body panels as the existing model.

Thereafter, we also get to experience the tail section. It contains a traditional antenna, which suggests that this might be a lower trim. Other than that, there is a roof-mounted spoiler and a rugged bumper along with LED taillamps. Overall, the facelift will bear minimal changes in comparison to the existing version. On the inside, there might be the addition of a few new tech elements, including a Level 2 ADAS configuration. Needless to mention, the current amenities will be carried over.

Specs

Even though the official announcement has not taken place just yet, we can safely assume that the VW Taigun facelift will most likely continue with the same engine and transmission options as the pre-facelift model. This includes a 1.0-litre TSI turbo petrol mill, which generates 115 PS and 178 Nm, and a larger 1.5-litre TSI EVO turbo petrol engine, good for 150 PS and 250 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. The former will have a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission, while the larger engine will pair with a 7-speed DSG transmission. More details will emerge closer to the launch.
