Yamaha MT-09 Launched in India at INR 10.20 lacs

This year’s Auto Expo witnessed the launch of the Yamaha MT-09 ย motorcycle in India. With this launch, Yamaha’s superbike tally in India has gone up to five. It also heralds in the MT series of street naked motorcycles that includes future models such as the MT-03, M-Slaz, MT-10 and more. Bollywood Actor and Yamaha India’s brand ambassador, John Abraham was present at the launch and spoke about his love for Yamaha’s bikes. The Japanese two-wheeler giant had a good run last year registering a growth of 5% and they will be looking to improve on it this year with more launches. The MT-09 will be imported to India via the CBU route pushing prices up. The Yamaha MT-09 is priced at INR 10.20 lacs (ex-showroom, New Delhi)

Design and Features

Much like every other naked bike, the MT-09 gets minimal body panels. However, it gets a chiseled fuel tank and an aggressive stance which add to the muscular appearance. The front end gets a sleek headlamp while the rear features a narrow LED stop lamp. A short stubby exhaust and 10 spoke alloy wheels round off the exteriors. Yamaha will offer the MT-09 in two colour options – Race Blue and Matte Grey.

Commenting on the launch of the MT–09, Masaki Asano, Managing Director, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Many were expecting Yamaha to launch either the M-Slaz or the MT-03 in India as an introduction to the MT series of bikes, but it looks like enthusiasts will have to wait a little longer to get their hands on these entry level sports bikes.
