Yamaha India has planned to launch a wide range of new motorcycles in near future. The list of upcoming Yamaha bikes in India includes both commuter and affordable performance bikes. One of the upcoming Yamaha bikes is the MT 03 naked streetfighter. The Yamaha MT 03 India launch could take place in 2017 and will sit under the R3. The MT 03 borrows in plenty from the R3. However, its muscular and streetnaked looks make the MT 03 a different beast. The MT 03 India prices could begin around 2.80 lakhs.

The Yamaha MT 03, upon its launch, will rival models like the Kawasaki Z250, KTM 390 Duke and even the BMW G310 R. Powering the Yamaha MT 03 is the same engine that powers the fully-faired R3. Even some of the body panels are shared between the two bikes. The MT 03’s parallel-twin engine displaces 321cc and comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The engine generates 41.6 bhp and 29.6Nm. The MT 03 has a top speed of over 150 KMPH.

The Yamaha MT 03 won’t be here before next year. Rumours abound that the Yamaha MT 03 India launch date will fall in Q2, 2017. We expect the bike to launch in April-May period of next year. Yamaha Motor India hasn’t yet announced the launch date of the bike. Although there are certain reports stating Yamaha will not bring the MT-03 to India. Recently, a mysterious Yamaha bike was caught on camera undergoing testing on Indian roads. However, it is NOT the MT-03. There is still a lot of uncertainty surrounding the MT03’s launch in India. We will update you as soon as we get word of any latest developments regarding the same.

Yamaha MT-03 Suspension, Engine & Transmission
Powering the MT 03 is a 321cc, parallel-twin liquid-cooled DOHC engine from the R3. This engine produces 41.6bhp @ 10,750rpm and 30 Nm @ 9,000rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed Manual Transmission. Hence, the MT 03 is sure to become of the most powerful bikes in its segment.
Suspension duties are taken care by conventional telescopic forks at front and a mono-suspension at the rear. The bike gets 10-spoke, 17-inch alloy wheels. These are shod with 110/10-17 tyre at front and 140/70-17 tyre at rear. Braking is courtesy of a 298mm Disc up front and a 220mm unit at rear. The top model of bike should offer a dual channel anti-lock braking system. The Yamaha MT 03 has a kerb weight of 165 KGs. This makes it 4 KGs lighter than R3. The MT 03 has a seat height of 780 mm.
