Popular models like Yamaha R15 V3 and the FZ V3 have received a minor price hike, effective immediately. MT-15 has been exempted from this hike.

Four Yamaha models get a minor price hike effective immediately, including R15 V3, FZ V3, FZ25 and Fazer 25. As of now, the exact reason for the price hike is unknown, but it is likely an increase in manufacturing costs.

The prices have been hiked by Rs 680 on all the said models. Interestingly, MT-15 has been left out of the hike. The R15S and Fazer do not receive a hike, thus indicating their discontinuation in India.

Here is the updated price list of all the four motorcycles:

ModelPrice (Rs)
R15 V31,40,280 to 1,42,280
FZ V396,180 to 98,180
FZ251,34,180
Fazer 251,44,180

As told earlier, Yamaha has discontinued the R15S and Fazer in India, owing to poor sales. The R15S is a single-seat and a bit scaled down version of the R15 V3. Also, it gets a different engine and misses out on the VVA system.

Priced at around Rs 1.2 Lakhs, it was for the masses who want the R15 but had a lower budget. At this price, there are plenty better and more powerful motorcycles, which has weakend the grip of R15S.

As for the Fazer, it still looks a bit outdated and similar to what we had 7-8 years back. The growing popularity of 160cc naked motorcycles and competition by Pulsar range has led to the decline of Fazer.

The 150cc semi-faired motorcycle gets the same engine of the FZ, but looks a bit bulky and gets Pulsar 220F-styling. As of now, dealerships have stopped receiving the stocks for the models.

There are reports suggesting that the R15S will be replaced by a single-seat version of the V3. Basically, it would get the same engine and the VVA system, but a single seat and slightly higher-placed handlebars, for a better-relaxed position.

Currently, Yamaha is riding high on the success of R15 V3 and MT-15, the latter performing fairly well in its competition. MT-15 goes against the likes of KTM Duke 125 and TVS Apache RTR 200 4V.
