A prominent YouTuber compares the accident of the new Maruti Swift with a crash of the old model to demonstrate the difference in build quality and safety capabilies. However, that can’t possibly be the right approach since the new Swift bears a generational update. It includes a revised platform, a tweaked body structure and a brand-new engine. Therefore, this is not a facelift model which generally offers similar safety prowess as the pre-facelift version. Let us take a look at the details here.
YouTuber Trolls New Maruti Swift
This video comes from Prateek Singh on YouTube. This channel often features content around road safety and performances of cars during unfortunate accidents. In this video, he showcases two accidents – one of the new Swift and one of the old model. The old model was involved in a horrific high-speed collision with a truck which left the hatchback in a totally dilapidated condition. In fact, one can’t even ascertain which car it is post-impact. Unfortunately, all passengers suffered serious injuries. On the other hand, in the second incident, the new Swift underwent a head-on collision with a Baleno. The front section of both cars suffered the impact greatly in this case but no one was severely injured.
Now, the YouTuber claims that the new Swift might be slightly better than the old Swift based on two separate incidents. That is not the right way to approach it. In fact, no one can jump to any conclusion about the build quality of any car based on a single accident. To ensure that a fair comparison is there, NCAP tests are in place. In that scenario, every car is tested on the same parameters which can give a clear picture of the difference in their build quality. To simply judge any car based on a single accident online without knowing the details of the car or having an in-depth understanding of automobiles is concerning.
