Skoda India, the Indian subsidiary of popular Czech automaker, launched the Octavia facelift earlier this year. It’s now planning to even launch the much anticipated Kodiaq 7-seater SUV along with special editions of its existing models. One such upcoming Skoda car in India is the Rapid Monte Carlo. Bookings for the car are already underway at authorized Skoda dealers and on the official Skoda India website. This car has been kitted up to pay homage to the Skoda’s racing heritage. Back in Europe, this bespoke trim is available on Rapid, Fabia, Yeti and Citigo. The Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo launch date is likely to fall in September. Bookings should start soon. Read on for more on the India-spec Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo special edition model.
This edition will bring in most of the features and cosmetic upgrades that are available in the international markets. The upper-C-segment sedan gets a red exterior paint along with an all-black trim for the interior. Other than this, the car also gets some more black-painted bits like an all-black grille, black-painted ORVM caps and black-painted 16-inch alloy wheels. The car also gets a lip-spoiler for the tailgate. The interior gets aluminum finish for the scuff plates, a flat bottom steering wheel and faux carbon fibre trim. The black seat upholstery comes with contrasting red stitching.
In India, the Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo will come with the same engines that power the regular car. This means you’ll get to choose between a 1.5-litre Turbo Diesel and a 1.6-litre Naturally Aspirated petrol. While the petrol engine outputs 103 BHP, the oil burner goes on to offer 108 BHP. Both the engines come mated to a 5-speed Manual Transmission as standard. While you can also order the petrol Rapid with a six-speed torque converter automatic, the Diesel model offers a seven-speed DSG.
