The 2019 Yamaha R15 V3 has been introduced in Thailand with new colours and graphics. As of now, it will not be bought to India, anytime soon.

Yamaha Thailand has updated the popular R15 V3 with new colours and updated graphics as a part of 2019 update. In Thai market, the updated model is priced at 97,500 Baht, which is nearly Rs 2.16 Lakhs in our currency.

New colour options include a new All Black colour and two dual-tone options of Black/Blue and Yellow/Grey. The decals of ‘R’ and ‘VVA’ have been revised and now look bigger than earlier.

These changes are currently available in the Thai market only. As of now, there is no word on its launch in India, provided the bike recently got a new Darknight colour option.

Other than that, the bike remains the same. It gets a 155cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, that produces 19 BHP and 14.7 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch.

Yamaha has equipped it with the VVA system which offers better mileage and improved acceleration as well. On our road test review, we were able to achieve nearly 50 kmpl on the R15.

In Thailand, you get the premium gold-anodized USD forks at the front and a monoshock at the back. However, to keep the costs in control, we get conventional telescopic forks at the front.

Braking is now handled by disc brakes at both the ends with dual-channel ABS as standard fitment. In India, we got the ABS variant just a couple of months back.

Features onboard include split LED headlamps, a fully digital instrument console, LED tail lights, Low-placed clip-on handlebars, split seats and a slipper clutch. The R15 offers an aggressive riding position.

There are chances of the updated R15 V3 to be launched next year, along with the BS-6 engines. We might see the model at the 2020 Auto Expo, where a lot of automakers will showcase as well as launch their BS-6 models.
