The upcoming 2020 Hyundai i20 will sport the latest clutchless-manual iMT gearbox with a 1.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine.
Fresh reports have come in suggesting the engine and variants detail of the 2020 Hyundai i20. The hatch is about to get a generation upgrade, which will give a complete makeover in terms of everything. We are expecting the launch to happen towards the end of this month itself or early November.
2020 Hyundai i20 will be offered in 4 trims – Magna, Sportz, Asta and Asta (O), spread out in a total of 13 variants. Engine options will include a 1.2 Litre four-cylinder petrol engine, a 1.0 Litre turbocharged petrol and a 1.5 Litre diesel engine. The same engine options that come on Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet will also come here.
The NA petrol engine will come paired with a 5-speed manual and IVT gearbox, producing 83 PS and 113 Nm. The diesel engine will reportedly come only with a 6-speed manual stick and no diesel-automatic combination. It will produce 100 PS and 220 Nm of peak torque, the same figures from Venue.
The last engine option will be the 1.0 Litre T-GDI turbo-petrol motor that will produce 100 PS and 172 Nm of peak torque. It will not get a manual gearbox, but a 6-speed iMT and a 7-speed DCT. Looks like Hyundai is expanding the reach of iMT gearbox and we are now expecting it to come on other Hyundai cars too.
Further, it will also get a lot of new features including electric sunroof, LED headlamps, new touchscreen infotainment system with Blue link internet car technology, cruise control, digital instrument cluster, rear AC vents, wireless charger and much more. Safety features onboard will include dual airbags, ABs with EBD, rear parking sensors and a parking camera. Prices are expected to start off at Rs 5.5 Lakhs up to Rs 9.5 Lakhs (ex-showroom).
