Honda City Hybrid will be sold with the โ€œe:HEVโ€ moniker and will become the first strong hybrid in its segment apart from also being the most affordable such model yet

Honda City Hybrid is about to set foot on Indian turf and its first teaser was released earlier today. The new model will make its local debut later this week and will become the only model in its segment to offer a strong-hybrid configuration. In fact, it will even become the most affordable strong-hybrid car this side of the Toyota Camry.

Honda City Hybrid Exterior & Interior

The new teaser image gives a clear look at the eโ€HEV badge along with also revealing the the car will continue featuring the badges for the variant nomenclature. It also shows that the hybrid variant will be sold even in the non-RS variants as well. It will look almost entirely like the standard model with the only discrepancies arising out of the additional badges and black bits replacing the chrome trim. That said, the mechanical differences will be aplenty.

Inside, the car will carry an all-black theme instead of the dual-tone beige-black affair seen on the top model. The equipment will be carried over from the top-spec ZX model of the ICE version, while the new model could even get the ADAS features seen on the Thai-spec car. These would include lane departure prevention, lane departure warning, collision avoidance, automatic high beam, lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control.

Specs

The 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine of the regular version will be replaced with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder Atkinson petrol engine working in tandem with two electric motors. The gasoline motor outputs a maximum of 98 PS-127 Nm. The motor will come mated to a CVT. Out of the two electric motors, one will drive the front wheels through the single-speed transmission, while the other will be employed as an integrated starter generator. The motor that powers the front wheels will be capable of outputting a maximum power of 109 PS along with a peak torque of 253 Nm. There will be three drive modes on offer โ€“ petrol-only, petrol-electric and electric-only.
