Maruti Swift 438 Cars Sold Everyday

The sales numbers for the Maruti Swift have crossed an almost unbelievable milestone of 30,00,000 (3 Million) units. That is an absurd amount of sales for a single model. Remember, the Maruti Swift has been selling in the Indian market since May 2005. Over the years, the Indo-Japanese carmaker has consistently kept updating it. Today, we find the Swift in its fourth-generation avatar. However, the demand is still at an all-time high. In fact, it remains around the top of the sales charts each month even after 19 years of existence. That is a testament to the popularity of the hatchback.

Maruti Swift Achieves 30 Lakh Sales Milestone

Now, 30 lakh sales in 19 years translates to 438 cars every day. That is more than what some car models sell in an entire month. Its sporty stance and appearance have always attracted new buyers. On top of that, the incredible mileage figures and the availability of the CNG powertrain (the latest version will get the CNG in some time) have ensured that the running costs remain low. Not to mention, the affordable and easily accessible aftersales services associated with Maruti Suzuki mean that people can buy these cars in any part of the country. For the first 10,00,000 sales, it took 8 years, for the second 10,00,000 sales, it took just 5 years, for the third million units, it took 6 years (despite the pandemic).

In the latest fourth-generation avatar, the Maruti Swift comes with tons of modern amenities. Perhaps the most enticing bit is the availability of 6 airbags as standard across the range. While it gets the latest connectivity, convenience and comfort amenities, with 6 standard airbags, the passive safety aspect has been enhanced. We have to wait for the official NCAP ratings to know more. Until then, let us glance at the top features on offer on the latest Swift:

  • 9-inch Touchscreen Infotainment Display
  • Part-Digital Instrument Cluster with Coloured MID
  • SmartPlay Pro+ Suzuki Connect Functions
  • Cruise Control
  • Wireless Charging
  • Automatic AC with Physical Toggle Switches
  • USB Charging Ports
  • Textured Dashboard
  • Onboard Voice Assistant via “Hi Suzuki”
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android
  • 6-Speaker Surround Sense Audio System Powered by ARKAMYS
  • Over-the-Air (OTA) System Upgrades Using Smartphone
  • Electrically Adjustable and Foldable ORVMs
  • Smartwatch Connectivity
  • Alexa Skill Connectivity

However, the main talking point of the latest Swift is its new engine. This time around, it gets a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder naturally aspired Z12E petrol engine which is capable of generating a decent 82 PS and 112 Nm of peak power and torque. There are options of choosing between either a 5-speed manual or an AMT automatic gearbox. In the manual version, the successful hatchback offers a mileage of a cool 24.8 kmpl, while in the AMT, this number stands at a mighty 25.75 kmpl. The prices of the new Maruti Swift range from Rs 6.49 lakh to Rs 9.64 lakh, ex-showroom. Note that the CNG version is also on the cards.
