New spy shots suggest that MG Hector 6-seater might instead be a 7-seater. It is expected to be launched early next year.

MG Hector is gaining its name as one of the most spacious SUVs in India, owing to its huge length and 5-seater configuration. To make it accessible to a broader group of buyers, MG is going to make the Hector a three-row SUV.

Earlier, we reported that MG might give individual captain seats on the second and third-row to make it a 6-seater. New spy shots reveal that the Hector might instead be a 7-seater SUV with benches on both the rows.

In the second row, you have seating for three and also the rear armrest. At the back, the bench is smaller and is suitable for two fully grown people. To get to the back, you will have to fold the seats forward just like other models.

The third row will come with 60:40 split configuration to offer a better boot space or space to stretch your legs. MG Hector 7-seater will compete with the likes of Toyota Innova Crysta and some variants of the Mahindra Marazzo as well.

Under the hood, it will run on the same engines that power the Hector. There will be the 1.5 Litre turbo-petrol unit and the 2.0 Litre FCA-sourced turbo-diesel engine. The Smart-Hybrid configuration will be available here as well.

Reports suggest that the manufacturer might make the 7-seater Hector a bit longer and heavier. So, to offer more power, the manufacturer might just increase the power figures. Although MG is reportedly working on an internally developed 2.0 Litre twin-turbo diesel engine, that will pump out 211 BHP.

Expect the prices of three-row Hector to be higher by 1.5-2 Lakhs, per variant. The price hike will include the addition of BS-6 engines, slightly more features and the third row of seating.
