This Modified Maruti Baleno Wants To Become A Monster Truck

Maruti Baleno

This Maruti Baleno has been modified like a monster truck with off-road alloys and sitting on a very raised suspension.

Seeing all American movies, we have loved when a monster truck crushes a car and ruthlessly, just goes over it. Monster trucks can’t be bought but you can build them. They are of course illegal to drive on the roads and can only be used for off-roading purposes or derbies. Here is a monster truck Maruti Baleno that seems to think different.

The owner has modified the Baleno in a way that is even unimaginable. The monster truck Baleno has a raised suspension and is almost taller by a foot. We are mostly thinking that the suspension setup can be adjusted as per the requirement. It also gets off-road spec rims and tyres with dual-purpose treading.

The colour of this modified Maruti Baleno has been kept original but with heavy polishing. The tail lamps have been blacked out and that’s all the cosmetic upgrades it has. We are sure that this setup is not at all suitable for Baleno and will damage the suspension and platform as well. So, we hope the owner does not drive at high speeds.

Well it may have the monster truck look but bigger wheels might have given it the perfect look. This is the pre-facelift Baleno, probably the first version. It came with two engine options including a 1.2 Litre four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 83 PS and a 1.3 Litre MJD engine that was good for 83 BHP and 200 Nm of peak torque.

Gearbox options included a 5-speed MT and a CVT, latter for the petrol trim. Due to the BS6 norms, the diesel engine has been discontinued and Baleno now remains a petrol-only SUV. It also gets a new 1.2 Litre engine with mild-hybrid system that produces 7 PS more with the same torque.

The prices of Baleno commence at Rs 5.63 Lakhs up to Rs 8.96 Lakhs (all prices ex-showroom). The competitors for this hatch include Volkswagen Polo, Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz, Toyota Glanza and Ford Freestyle. As usual, it remains the best selling of them all.
