Kawasaki is planning to launch its most affordable retro motorcycle, W175 in India by next year. It might be priced as low as Rs 1.5 Lakhs or below that.

Kawasaki W800 was the company’s first retro motorcycle that made its way to the Indian market. Now, the second retro motorcycle from the Japanese will be a lot more affordable than the W800. Kawasaki W175 is reported to be launched in India next year, which will get a 175cc engine.

Mostly, it will be around 90% localised bringing down the prices very low. Reports suggest that the prices can be down to about Rs 1.5 Lakhs or even lower than that. That will make it the cheapest motorcycle from the premium motorcycle brand. However, it will still be the second localized bike after the Ninja 300.

Kawasaki W175 will get a 175cc air-cooled SOHC engine that is good for 13 BHP and 13.2 Nm of peak torque, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The engine will get two-valves and most likely get fuel injection technology as standard. So, that might increase the power figures by a small figure.

For suspension, it will use telescopic forks at the front and twin shock absorbers at the back. Braking will be handled by a 220mm disc at the front and a 110mm drum brake at the back, paired with a single-channel ABS. The kerb weight of the bike will be just around 126 kilograms, making it very lightweight.

In terms of rivals and competition, the Kawasaki W175 will go against the likes of Bajaj Avenger and Suzuki Intruder. However, it will also find its way with the Royal Enfield Bullet and Jawa Forty-Two. While the latter are a lot more powerful, but its the fan following of Kawasaki that will draw most of the buyers.
