The new Skoda Rapid launch has been confirmed for late 2021 by Zac Hollis, Director, Sales, Service & Marketing, Skoda Auto India via a tweet in response to a prospective Rapid buyer. Skoda has embarked upon a new journey in its Indian history by launching the Kushaq, recently. Skoda is planning to grab more market for itself in India and the second product based on the India-specific MQB A0 IN platform will be the Rapid replacement by the end of 2021. The deliveries for the same will commence in early 2022, according to Zac Hollis. It might have a new name, Slavia. We have seen a few spy shots of the Rapid replacement performing road tests earlier and can make some logical predictions as to what it might come equipped with.

New Skoda Rapid Details
Based on a new platform, the new Skoda Rapid will be larger than the outgoing model in terms of overall dimensions. The front will feature the modern design language of the Czech carmaker with sharp creases, sleek LED headlamps with crystalline effect, Sporty Bumpers, Characteristic Sharp Creases on the sides, Stylish Alloy Wheels, Sleek and Sharp Taillamps and an overall muscular silhouette. The rear might feature the lettering SKODA written across the boot of the sedan. Zac Hollis has also mentioned that this replacement model will sit above the current-gen Rapid, meaning it will be a bit premium.

The inside of the new Skoda Rapid will most likely carry the high-quality materials along with modern and clever features, that Skoda is known for. We can expect the Rapid to come with a large touchscreen Infotainment System with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Digital Driver’s Instrument Cluster, Bluetooth Connectivity, Connected Car Tech Features, Automatic Climate Control, Multi-purpose two-spoke Steering Wheel, Premium Upholstery, Electric Sunroof, Premium Audio System and much more. Safety is also something that Skoda takes very seriously and we could expect the sedan to come with a plethora of safety equipment as well.

The next-gen Rapid will come with either or both engines including a 1.0-litre TSI and 1.5-litre TSI turbo petrol making 115 PS with 175 Nm and 150 PS with 250 Nm respectively. There will be options of either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission to complement the TSI units. The prices of the upcoming model could range between Rs 9 lakh to 15 lakh, ex-showroom. The rivals of the executive sedan will include the likes of Hyundai Verna, Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, the upcoming VW Vento and Toyota Belta.
