A father and his son bring the old and new Skoda Octavia together this father's day.

Skoda and VW have achieved impressive feats by delivering a record number of their Slavia and Virtus respectively, in a single day.

On the occasion of Father’s Day, Skoda released an infomercial regarding a Father-Son duo owning the Skoda Octavia in the last-gen version and the current-gen model. This is special because the Octavia is easily among the most successful D-segment sedans ever sold in India and seeing the original version with the latest model is quite a sight. While this video is a part of a promotional campaign by Skoda India, it’s still heartening to see the two generations of the Octy coming together for a special ad film.

The video indicates just how modern the Octavia has become with a side-by-side comparison to the older model. It features the typical Skoda design theme with sharp creases and characteristic lines on the sides making it look muscular, a sleek front end with a sculpted bonnet, dual C-shaped LED DRLs, the trademark butterfly grille with chrome a frame, and a sharp bumper with fog lamp housing. The alloy wheels are elegant and the chrome belt running around the side windows lends it a premium layout.

With its premium cabin, latest tech features, comfort amenities and connected functions, the Skoda Octavia now belongs to the premium luxury sedan segment of its own. While there are no direct rivals to the Octavia, it sits comfortably between the likes of Hyundai Elantra (now discontinued) and the luxury sedans from Germany.

Specs

The Skoda Octavia, in its latest iteration, comes with a 2.0-litre TSI turbo petrol engine that belts out 190 PS and 320 Nm of peak power and torque. Complementing this engine is a sole 7-speed DSG gearbox. The prices of the Octavia range from Rs 25.85 lakh and go all the way up to Rs 29.85 lakh, ex-showroom. Industry experts consider it a worthy alternate premium sedan with a relatively affordable price tag compared to the likes of other German luxury sedans.
