Punch is a 5-star safety-rated micro SUV that has been one of the top-selling products for Tata Motors ever since its inception. In unfortunate scenarios, it has performed well, corresponding to its safety rating. However, in one terrible case, the micro SUV caught fire suddenly and was reduced to ashes. This post tells the details of this entire situation from the owner’s perspective.

Tata Punch Catches Fire

This video has been uploaded by Nikhil Rana on YouTube. This channel keeps featuring content around road safety and the performances of cars during unfortunate incidents. This time, the YouTuber shares the conversation with the owner of the Tata Punch. He is a young man who has no father and is fighting this war with Oriental Insurance on his own. He narrates the entire incident. His Punch caught fire when it had been driven just 2,000 km.

He was on a trip to another state when the incident took place, where the Punch caught fire suddenly in the middle of the road. The footage in this video shows people trying to douse out the fire vehemently. Then, the fire brigade was called and finally put the fire out. Oriental Insurance said there was a manufacturing defect in the vehicle and rejected the claim. This came after Tata Motors had sent out a team to prepare a thermal report to assess the cause of the fire. Interestingly, that report clearly says there was no car manufacturing defect.

Oriental Insurance Company Blames Tata Motors

The owner had to file a FAR (Fire Accident Report), a thermal report, a receipt of the last fuel filling, a report from the fire department, etc., to claim the insurance. However, despite all these certificates, Oriental Insurance has denied the claim. It has been over a year since this incident occurred, and the owner is still fighting this war alone. We must make his voice reach the masses so that the company listens and does the needful. It is shocking to see how these insurance companies harass their customers.
