A new video shows a petrol automatic variant of the popular 4×4 with an aftermarket CNG kit. Let us find out how Mahindra Thar performs on CNG.

Mijo CNG Kit for Mahindra Thar
As you can see in the YouTube video by Takuli’s Talk, the CNG kit is added to a turbo petrol Mahindra Thar with a direct injection engine. This setup is more complicated than a CNG on a regular engine and requires dedicated CNG kits and components. Hence, even an aftermarket ECU is installed in the car. The injectors and reducers are placed neatly under the bonnet. While the cylinder is placed in the boot, the filler nozzle is placed right next to the fuel lid.
During mild off-roading in a field, the driver 4 High and started driving the SUV around. Surprisingly, it performed quite well on CNG. Then the driver takes the car on the road and disengages 4H. In the 2WD made, the SUV runs smoothly. The car manages to pick up speed quite quickly and shows no signs of lag. The car was easily doing speeds above 120 kmph on CNG. During this exercise, there were three people in the car. Vlogger reveals that the CNG kit is from a brand named Mijo. It can also be installed in an XUV700.

The petrol version of the second-get Mahindra Thar is powered by a 2.0 litre mStallion turbocharged engine that offers 150 Bhp of maximum power and 320 Nm of peak torque. It comes with a 6-speed manual or an automatic transmission. Safety features include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, rear parking sensors, hill descent control, and a front seat belt reminder.
