ola ceo event cancelled journalist stranded

In a shocking turn of events, Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal expresses his anger via Twitter after a journalist sneakily takes photos of the upcoming electric scooter at a private event held by the company. However, he took out his frustration on the entire media industry. The event was supposed to take place today where journalists from all over India were invited to test ride the electric scooter. But the decision to cancel the event came out a couple of hours prior to the planned event. As a result, the entire lot of journalists who had arrived at the venue had to return home. This is completely rash and insensitive of Ola. Here details of a latest case.

Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal Furious

This post by bikewithgirl summarises the entire debacle. Bhavish took to Twitter to express his wrath. His post reads, “These images were part of an auto media event we held today and content from this event was supposed to be embargoed and confidential. Auto media does their own credibility a massive disservice when they sneakily take photos at a confidential event. Breaks the trust the brand places in them.” He adds, “We work really hard to make great products and entertaining events for our customers and delight them. Such instances canโ€™t have any place in a mature ecosystem.”

This clearly indicates that some journalist took pictures of the event and leaked them online. Needless to mention, this is highly unprofessional and immature. Auto companies often put an embargo on such information as a part of their marketing strategy. To play with their sentiments unnecessarily is stupid and unacceptable. If auto companies are not able to trust the media houses, the entire ecosystem will bear the brunt of that. We can only hope that whoever this person is, he/she comes out and apologises.

Upcoming Ola S1 X

That is the only way forward. Bhavish concludes by saying, “Unless it is clear who did this and an apology (which is unlikely), we will not have auto journalists being showcased our products before launch going forward. They will be shown the products only after customers are shown products at launch events.” The electric scooter in question is the upcoming S1 X which might retail for under Rs 1 lakh. This will be Ola’s fourth product in our market after S1, S1 Pro and S1 Air. Let us see how things pan out going forward. Also, we will experience more details on the EV in times to come.
