In yet another cringe video, a vlogger claims to test the build quality of the Maruti Jimny by shaking it and knocking its sheetmetal. Unfortunately, this is not the first time this stupid technique has been adopted by a YouTuber. We keep coming across these absurd methods to establish the build quality of cars on a daily basis. The Jimny, a light off-road vehicle, has been a popular choice worldwide for many years. It’s known for being nimble and tough. Even in India, we had our version called the Gypsy in its second generation. This vehicle became a symbol for off-road enthusiasts here. Now, to continue that tradition, the new Jimny is here with 5 doors instead of the usual three. It’s already pretty popular among the off-road enthusiasts. Meanwhile, the SUV has kept all occupants safe in a recent horrifying crash.

Maruti Jimny Build Quality
This video comes from Karankumarcars on YouTube. The host is showing a man pushing the lightweight off-roading SUV from the side. Being a tall and a lightweight car, it sways a fair bit. Just by this brief instance, the vlogger claims that the build quality of the Jimny is poor. In fact, he goes as far as to say that since the Thar is heavier, it is tougher. Judging the build quality of cars in a matter of seconds via such mindless techniques renders all those intricate Global NCAP crash tests pointless. There are a lot of specific details in those tests to analyse the overall build quality of various components of any car.

But there are so many new vloggers and ‘experts’ online who claim to determine the strength of any car just by such stupid activities. In fact, Maruti has not sent the Jimny to the Global NCAP testing just yet. Therefore, no one knows the accurate safety rating of this SUV. But self-proclaimed experts like these have already passed judgement. Hopefully, we don’t need to tell you just how pathetic and useless such vlogs are. We recommend our readers not take this commentary seriously.

What We Think
We suggest that you don’t base your opinions about a car’s toughness based on videos like these. The best way to gauge safety is through official NCAP testing, which is a standardized test meant for accurately evaluating a car’s safety quotient. If you’re watching these videos just for fun, that’s okay. However, it’s important not to jump to conclusions about a car’s quality based solely on the opinions of such Youtubers. Help others understand this too, so they aren’t misled by such funny but misleading videos.
