A set of teaser images released recently gave us a glimpse of the production-ready Mahindra BE.05. The test-mule, in spite of wearing a full-body camouflage, gave us a fair idea of all that’s changed from the 2022 concept. To add to the excitement, Pratap Bose, Chief Design Officer, Mahindra & Mahindra, tweets that the production-version is better than the concept!

Remaining faithful to the futuristic looking concept, the production version retains much of the design language. The front fascia carries the same sharp angles and intricate line. Even the pointed bonnet and elegantly sleek LED DRLs make it to the production guise. However, some clear alterations are observed on the sides. A conventional five-spoke design for the alloy wheels replaces the concept’s flamboyant aesthetics for the rims. The A-pillar cameras are gone and now carry conventional ORVMs. Even the wheel arches are more understated. The B-pillar, nearly invisible in the concept, is now far more prominent.

At the rear, much of the concept has been carried over. The highlights here include the divided rear spoiler and the sloping roofline that bestows a crossover-like stance. The LED tail lamps mirror the DRL to maintain harmony with the front-end. The interior of the production model is yet to be shown to the public. However, it’s likely to feature dual 12.3-inch displays, squared-off steering wheel and a cascading-effect dash seen on the concept.

Underpinning the Mahindra BE.05 is the future-proof INGLO platform. The EV is likely to have a 60 kWh battery good for a driving range of up to 450 km. While the e-SUV will debut with 2WD configuration, an AWD version could debut in due course of time. Thanks to the modern-day battery technology, the BE.05 could offer rapid charging facility with speeds up to 175 kW. This will allow 5 to 80 percent charge in just 30 minutes. The BE.05 is expected to launch in October 2025 and have a starting price of Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom). Its direct rivals will include the production-spec Tata Curvv EV and Hyundai Creta EV.
