In a recent incident involving the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) of the Mahindra XUV700, there has been a great misuse of the modern function. An owner of the XUV700 captured a video with his feet resting on the seat while the SUV was driving on its own. For those unfamiliar with ADAS, it is designed to provide support to drivers during emergencies. This system employs electronic mechanisms to intervene when a driver’s response time is inadequate to address unexpected road conditions. Regrettably, this technological advancement has been taken to an inappropriate extreme, as individuals engage in what could be termed as ‘stunts’ using ADAS. This latest occurrence is yet another showcase of this worrying trend.

Abuse of Mahindra XUV700’s ADAS by Owner

The incident was brought to attention through a post on Instagram by the account xuv_700_official. The post includes a video clip wherein the owner can be heard expressing his admiration for Mahindra’s engineering. In the video, he is driving on a clearly marked highway – an environment conducive to the optimal functioning of ADAS, which relies on data from sensors, radars, and cameras. However, his perception of the system as a surrogate driver is misguided and undermines the fundamental purpose of this safety feature. This misuse not only endangers his own life but also jeopardizes the lives of others sharing the road.

The owner places his feet on the seat while the vehicle autonomously navigates according to the road conditions. This recklessness exposes him to a precarious situation, where the system’s failure to detect sudden obstacles could lead to delayed braking. The potential consequences of such misuse are grave, as these features offer no room for error. Consequently, such reckless actions must be vehemently discouraged.

Promotion of Road Safety

In conclusion, it is imperative to remind our readers to strictly adhere to traffic regulations. One should abstain from engaging in hazardous activities like the one described. ADAS is designed to complement and aid the driver’s capabilities, not to replace them. It is crucial that we collectively advocate for the responsible and judicious use of this commendable technological advancement. There have been instances where misuse of ADAS has resulted in catastrophic outcomes. Let us commit to a more responsible approach when operating vehicles on the road, abiding by traffic laws and prioritizing safety for all.
