Jeep Meridian Facelift Spotted with ADAS

In the latest spy media, the Jeep Meridian facelift was spotted testing ADAS functions. It is the 7-seat variant of the Compass which presents itself as a more budget-friendly option compared to the leading contender in its segment, the Toyota Fortuner. Known for producing robust and capable SUVs, the American automaker has garnered a reputation for vehicles that enthusiasts love to drive with passion. However, it is quite difficult to snatch market share from the mighty Fortuner. In order to refresh the Meridian, Jeep will be offering some new active safety features. Let us take a look at these in detail here.

Jeep Meridian Facelift to Get ADAS

This image stems from Instagram. A heavily camouflaged SUV is seen performing test runs on public highways. There are some elements of the SUV visible in these visuals. For instance, I could unequivocally recognize the vertical slats which adorn the front fascia of many Jeep SUVs. The bumper looks quite rugged with a radiator grille up front. The sleek LED headlamp cluster doesn’t look all that different from the existing model. Moving down the sides, one gets a glimpse of the square wheel arches and striking alloy wheels. The sheer length of this SUV becomes apparent here. The rear profile gets slim LED taillamps which are connected via a bar. As per the caption on this post, the SUV is being tested for ADAS functions.

Since it will be a facelift, we don’t expect to see any mechanical alterations. Featuring a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine, the vehicle produces an impressive 170 PS and 350 Nm of peak power and torque. This engine is paired with the option of a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed automatic transmission, equipped with 4ร—4 off-roading capabilities. The ex-showroom prices span from Rs 33.40 lakh to Rs 39.46 lakh. The facelift model will command a slight premium over these prices.

Author’s Note

Jeep Meridian has not enjoyed great volumes in our market. The Fortuner has barely let any other product prosper in this segment. It was only the Ford Endeavour which competed head-on with the Fortuner. However, after its departure from the Indian market, people are just preferring the Japanese carmaker over any rivals in this category. By offering new-age active safety features, the American auto giant wants to entice new audiences. Let us keep an eye out for how this pans out once the Meridian facelift arrives.
