Maruti Jimny 6x6

The unique avatar of the Maruti Jimny 6×6 has to be the most bizarre contraption you would ever see. Jimny is extremely popular in our market in its practical 5-door version. It has a long history that goes back over five decades. In India, we first got to know this iconic vehicle through its second-generation version, called the Gypsy, which remains beloved among off-road fans. Now, Maruti Suzuki offers the fourth-generation Jimny, which stands out for offering a useful 5-door model, marking a big step forward in its lineage. This post arrives from haryana_gaurav on Instagram. It captures a the unique layout of the Maruti Jimny. Only the side profile is visible in this image. But that is exactly where it differs from the regular model. The first thing which catches the eye is the addition of an extra axle and a set of wheels. In order to accommodate this setup, the wheelbase has been extended and an extra wheel arch has been carved out. In fact, the rear compartment now consists of a cargo bed, much like pickup trucks. Also, a reinforcing rod has been installed on the back as well to improve rigidity. All in all, this Jimny can take on any pickup truck due to its ability to glide over extreme terrains with an additional set of wheels.

Specs

The regular Maruti Jimny is equipped with a 1.5-liter K15B petrol engine that provides 103 hp and 134 Nm of peak power and torque. You have the option of selecting either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic transmission. To ensure that power is distributed efficiently to all four wheels, the SUV employs Suzuki’s highly-regarded ALLGRIP PRO 4×4 system, which includes a valuable low-range transfer case and a locking differential. Impressively, the Jimny features a ground clearance of 210 mm and remarkable approach, breakover, and departure angles of 36°, 24°, and 50°, respectively. Regarding pricing, it ranges from Rs 12.74 lakh to Rs 14.95 lakh, ex-showroom.

Author’s Note

We appreciate the excitement of people who want to customize their vehicles to stand out. However, it’s important to understand that many car modifications may not follow Indian laws, which could lead to legal trouble with the police. That’s why we strongly advise against making major changes to your vehicle. If you’re still keen on customization, it’s a good idea to talk to your local Regional Transport Office (RTO) first. If they approve the changes, they can officially note them on your vehicle’s registration documents. This will help you avoid legal problems down the road.
