New Maruti Suzuki Swift Base Model Reaches Dealership

The exterior styling is already somewhat familiar going by what the international version offers.

The new 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift base model has been detailed in a video made using content from abroad. Suzuki Swift has already been launched in many international markets including Japan, the UK, Ireland, France and Germany. Hence, it is no longer a mystery how the prominent hatchback will look. Still, it will be interesting to see which variant gets what features. Let us take a look at those details here.

Maruti Swift Base Model Leaked

This video comes from Harsh VLOGS on YouTube. He mentions a few key details about the base trim of the new i Swift. The India-spec model should look a lot like the one sold abroad. This highlights of the aesthetics include redesigned headlamp cluster, a new bumper, clamshell bonnet, a tweaked grille design, the logo on the bonnet instead of the grille, new wheels, a redesigned taillamp, a new rear bumper, etc. All in all, the new Swift looks a lot like the existing version due to the familiar silhouette but manages to have a unique identity thanks to the evolved design.

Interior and Features

Being the base trim, don’t expect premium amenities. Still, the visual showcases a new dashboard layout with new AC vents and HVAC controls. Gone are the orthodox round vents. Now, the new Swift gets a rectangular shape for the vents and physical toggle switches to control the temperature and fan settings. Moreover, the vlogger also claims that from the base model, the customers will get the engine start/stop button. But I reckon that this is true for the international model only. He also mentions that the base model will get all four power windows. More details will be released closer to the launch.

Specs

What I find particularly fascinating is the new engine. Maruti Suzuki will discontinue the 1.2-litre 4-cylinder K Series engine in the new Swift and introduce a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Z Series mill with mild hybrid technology. We have to wait to know the exact power and torque figures for this powertrain. But Maruti Suzuki says that it will be more fuel efficient in comparison to the existing engine. Also, the vlogger says that his friend has booked the new Swift unofficially for Rs 21,000. Furthermore, he tells the viewers that the base LXi model will cost Rs 6.42 lakh, ex-showroom.

Author’s Note

Maruti Suzuki Swift is one of the most successful vehicles in the Indian carmaker since 2005 when it was first launched. Even after 19 years of existence, the demand for the Swift is still at an all-time high. That is what I find immensely impressive. The Indo-Japanese carmaker has ensured that it kept the Swift updated and fresh with frequent tweaks to the design and features. However, this time around, we are about to get an all-new car even though the exterior looks a lot similar to the current model. But with a new powertrain and interior cabin, people will experience the distinctions evidently.
