Mahindra XUV 3XO vs Nissan Magnite Comparison

Mahindra XUV 3XO vs Nissan Magnite Comparison

The new Mahindra XUV 3XO features in such a segment in our market, which produces rivals from the adjacent categories as well, due to the price overlap.

This new Mahindra XUV 3XO vs Nissan Magnite comparison is quite interesting. The reason is very simple. One doesn’t generally consider the Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger the direct rivals to the compact SUVs like the Mahindra XUV 3XO, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet and Maruti Brezza. But a large portion of the price ranges of all these SUVs overlap. That is what warrants a comparison like this. In essence, a potential car buyer with this budget technically has the option of going for any of these. For now, I shall get into the details of these two.

New Mahindra XUV 3XO vs Nissan Magnite – Specs Comparison

Mahindra XUV 3XO

Since the Mahindra XUV 3XO is the latest product in this segment, let us commence with it. It doesn’t offer any changes to the powertrains in comparison to the pre-facelift version. This includes a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine which produces a familiar 110 hp and 200 Nm, the 1.2-litre direct injection turbo petrol mill which outputs the best-in-segment 130 hp and 230 Nm and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel powertrain belting out a healthy 115 hp and 300 Nm of peak power and torque. There are options of either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AISIN-sourced automatic transmission with the petrol engines and a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AMT AutoShift gearbox with the diesel engine. This ensures that all sorts of needs of the buyers are taken care of.

Nissan Magnite

On the other hand, the Nissan Magnite is offered with a single engine, but in two different states of tune to suit the needs of various customers. There is a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine which makes a healthy 71 hp and 96 Nm, while the same engine also comes with a turbocharger which takes the power and torque figures to 99 hp and 160 Nm. There are options of choosing between either a 5-speed manual, an AMT or a CVT automatic gearbox. Note that the AMT is available with the regular petrol mill while the CVT comes with a turbo petrol engine. The mileage figures range from 17.4 kmpl to 20 kmpl.

The new Mahindra XUV 3XO comes with a rather aggressive price point. It ranges from Rs 7.49 lakh to Rs 15.49 lakh, ex-showroom. These are attractive prices when considering the kind of segment-first convenience and safety features it is offering to the customers. New Mahindra XUV 3XO vs Nissan Magnite – Features Comparison

New Mahindra XUV 3XO

The new Mahindra XUV 3XO comes with tons of modern amenities, safety features, connectivity functions and more. In fact, with the kind of cabin functionalities it gets, its Rs 15.49 lakh price of the top trim still feels like value for money. In fact, one key aspect which I would like to mention here is that the Indian auto giant has fixed the specific practical issue with the pre-facelift model, the boot space. It has significantly been improved to 364 litres this time around. Also, the pre-facelift model offers a 5-star safety rating at the Global NCAP. Since, the facelift version is based on the same chassis and even gets a toughened body structure and active safety features, this version is likely to follow in the same footsteps too. The most prominent highlights of the new Mahindra XUV 3XO include:

Nissan Magnite

Even though the Nissan Magnite is a relatively more affordable compact SUV, there are still tons of modern-day amenities to ensure that the customers are pampered. We know how particular modern customers are about the connected features and smartphone connectivity. Therefore, every carmaker needs to ensure that it offers its vehicles with all the bells and whistles. What is also impressive about the Magnite is that it bears a respectable 4-star safety rating at the Global NCAP. The other major functionalities incorporate:

Our View

Now I hope that you would’ve understood why I had to produce a write-up about these two SUVs. The price overlap and the fact that both these vehicles bear the compact SUV tag mean that people legitimately have the option of choosing between these two compelling propositions in their own right. I feel there is a strong use case for each of these. Firstly and most evidently, the prime factor to consider is the budget. Since the top variants are priced apart quite significantly, only those people can consider going for the XUV 3XO, who have a flexible budget.

Hence, if you want the comfort and convenience of top amenities in the XUV 3XO, you must be ready to spend a fortune. On the other hand, if you are just looking for a family compact SUV which has the latest features to keep the occupants pampered. Sure, the performance and ultra-modern functionalities won’t be as superior as the XUV 3XO. But the budget is much more attractive. Therefore, I would encourage my readers to visit their local showrooms and experience the two in the flesh. Both these SUVs have their strengths and weaknesses. Depending on your needs, you can choose the one which makes the most sense to you.
