Next-generation Toyota Fortuner Rendering - Front Three Quarters

#image_title

The next-gen Toyota Fortuner GR Sport has been conceptualized in this digital rendition. Fortuner is the most popular 7-seat off-roading SUV in our country. It has become an icon in this space. The GR Sport is the special edition model dedicated to the Gazoo Racing, which is the racing department of Toyota. Hence, it is at the top in the current model lineup with a retail sticker of a jaw-dropping Rs 51.44 lakh, ex-showroom. However, the facelift version of the Toyota Fortuner has been due for a long time now. Let us take a look at the details of this virtual illustration.

Next-Gen Toyota Fortuner GR Sport Imagined

These images arrive from malvinsetiawan on Instagram. The artist has come up with a detailed imagination to create this butch SUV. The entire silhouette of the Fortuner seems to be inspired by the Land Cruiser. At the front, we get to witness a rugged profile with an upright and muscular hood with a hump. Also, the black grille section looks sporty along with the fog lamps. I particularly like the sleek LED headlamps along with integrated LED DRLs and a contoured bumper with aero intakes on the sides. Moving down the sides, we get to see squared wheel arches with ginormous alloy wheels.

They are painted in black colour with red brake callipers to ooze sportiness. Furthermore, this digital concept gets black side pillars which lend it a floating roof effect. The door handles and roof rails are black too. To aid the ingress and egress characteristics, there are solid side steps. What I find the most impressive is that the designer has even developed a standard version of the Fortuner with some differences to set it apart from the GR Sport model. There are differences in the front grille, side profile and alloy wheels. In any case, this has to be one of the sportiest iterations of the next-gen Toyota Fortuner GR Sport.

Specs

In the international markets, the Toyota Hilux has debuted with a hybrid engine. It won’t be too far-fetched to assume that the next-gen Toyota Fortuner could also borrow this powertrain. This contains the 2.8-litre 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine with a 48V mild hybrid tech with a lithium battery. The electrical setup weighs just 7.6 kg and produces a marginal 12 kW (16 hp) and 65 Nm of power and torque to the engine via a motor generator to enhance acceleration, power and efficiency (up to 6-10% higher). The total power and torque still remain 201 hp and 420 Nm (500 Nm with automatic transmission), respectively.

Our View

Toyota Fortuner has attained iconic status in our market in the last few years. This is especially true after the departure of the Ford Endeavour from India as the American carmaker decided to quit manufacturing cars in India altogether in 2021. However, the 7-seat off-roader has been due for an upgrade for a long time now. Hence, we can expect the next-gen Toyota Fortuner to bear aesthetic, as well as mechanical enhancements. Needless to say, the off-roading tech will be sophisticated to handle all sorts of terrains.
