BYD is expanding its portfolio in India to take a chunk of this burgeoning market
The BYD Sealion 7 is an electric SUV from the Chinese carmaker which will be showcased at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. The event is slated to take place between January 17 and January 22, 2025, in New Delhi. Most carmakers will display their new technologies and products to create buzz around them. After the Atto 3, Seal and eMAX 7, the Sealion 7 will be a prominent electric SUV. The aim is to cater to all sorts of customers. Let us take a look at the details here.
BYD Sealion 7 Electric SUV to Debut at Bharat Mobility Expo 2025
The electric SUV possesses a low-slung fascia with BYD’s trademark Ocean-inspired design language. This includes aerodynamic components for enhanced efficiency. Furthermore, it carries the latest technology from the Chinese carmaker including things like Intelligent Torque Active Control (iTAC) and the CTB (Cell To Body) architecture along with the world’s first mass-produced 8-in-1 electric powertrain. This includes critical components like VCU, BMS, MCU, PDU, DC-DC controller, onboard charger, drive motor and transmission into a single package.
In fact, the iTAC system smartly redistributes drive torque via torque shift, precise torque reduction and negative torque output to minimize or eliminate skidding. There will be options of choosing between 82.5 kWh and 91.3 kWh battery packs. These claim a WLTP range of 482 km on a single charge in the RWD variant and 455 km in the AWD trim. The top version boasts a range of around 500 km. In the most powerful settings, the electric SUV reaches 100 km/h from a standstill in just 4.5 seconds with a top speed of 215 km/h. My View
BYD has been silently increasing its footprint in India. In fact, it announced to expand its dealership network from 27 to 40 by the end of this month. Also, the number of models on sale is increasing regularly. The launch of the Sealion 7 is planned for the first half of 2025.
