Mahindra is planning to showcase a bunch of new products in the coming days, including, perhaps, the new-gen Bolero aka Thar Sports
The Mahindra Thar Sports has been spotted testing on a highway amidst heavy traffic recently. A few days ago, Mahindra invited several car reviewers from Australia. During this visit, Mahindra officials told the Australian media that they are developing a monocoque version of the Thar. It is currently being called the Thar Sports. This new model might be revealed on August 15, 2025. It is still unclear if this SUV will be the next-gen Bolero or a completely new model. Meanwhile, let us check out the details of the spied vehicle here.
Mahindra Thar Sports Spied Highway Testing
The specifics of this instance surfaced courtesy of carindiatimes on Instagram. The visuals capture a heavily camouflaged SUV with tons of vehicles around it. In fact, the 3-door Thar was also being driven just ahead of it. Note that the text on the video mentions that it is the new Bolero. We experience a slightly familiar silhouette, just like the Bolero Neo. One can clearly witness the rear and side sections. At the tail end, there is a boot lid-mounted spare alloy wheel with a modern appearance.
Similarly, the side section contains creaseless door panels and flush-fitting door handles. Additionally, the SUV boasts prominent wheel arches, muscular claddings around the wheels, an upright stance and side steps for easier ingress and egress characteristics for the occupants. More details are not visible. In any case, it being a modern car, we can expect modern elements inside the cabin along with the latest tech and convenience amenities to pamper the passengers.
Now it remains to be seen what kind of powertrain options it will bear. If it is a new avatar of the Bolero, it might continue to draw power from a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder mHawk diesel mill. However, if it is the new version of the Thar, we might witness the larger new-age mStallion turbo petrol and mHawk engines with manual and automatic transmission alternatives. We shall have to keep an eye out for details in this regard going forward.
